James plays guitar, provides backing vocals and occasionally kazoo, and writes songs for Curari.
James started playing guitar at the age of 13, playing a baby pink strat-alike before being bought an Ibanez for his 16th birthday. Whilst playing guitar was important to him, a wider musical knowledge was just as important: James can knock out a tune on anything from guitar, bass and ukulele-banjo to piano, bassoon and drums.
Songwriting is James’ first love and this is something which he developed through his music GCSE, A Level and degree. James is a passionate believer in melody in popular music writing and the importance of bands not taking themselves too seriously.
James uses the following equipment in Curari:
Fender Telecaster
Gibson Flying V
Gibson Les Paul
Marshall TSL 122
Greg Fryer treble boosters
ELC Kazoo
